An Official Statement from The Fund Against Discrimination and Hate

January 29, 2025

At The Fund for Women and Girls, we stand firm in our convictions that;

  • Everyone deserves to live safely and with community as their authentic selves.
  • No one should be subjected to discrimination based on their gender or gender identity, race, religion, ethnicity, ability status, location, immigration status or economic status.
  • We stand with and in support of organizations, nonprofits, and educational institutions that are serving underserved and marginalized communities.

Basic human rights are being threatened, and we will not sit idly by while this occurs.

The actions of the Federal administration over the past week do not reflect the values and beliefs of The Fund for Women and Girls. We are committed to ensuring a more equitable future for everyone facing gender discrimination; cis women and girls, trans individuals, and nonbinary/gender non-conforming adults, youth, and children. While many in power are signaling a systemic rejection of diversity and setting a dangerous precedent that threatens to normalize exclusion, inequity, and hate at the highest levels of governance, we will continue to work towards gender equity for all.

To our grantees and nonprofit partners:

  • We value the critical services you provide.
  • We acknowledge the challenge of serving populations that are under attack and honor the need for safe space.
  • We will continue to support the invaluable work you do.

To our community members:

  • We acknowledge that for many, safety, self-identity, and basic rights are under attack.
  • We acknowledge many of us are afraid for the safety and well-being of our loved ones.
  • We believe that all of our loved ones and neighbors are worth fighting for.
  • We remain steadfast in our commitment to improving the lives of women and girls through advocacy and grantmaking.

We encourage everyone to join us in this critical effort to advance equality, equity, and inclusion for everyone.
