CHESTER COUNTY FUND FOR WOMEN AND GIRLS ANNOUNCES KITCHEN TABLE AWARD
Carol Metzker to receive community honor at the 12th Making a Difference Luncheon on May 5, 2017
WEST CHESTER, PA (January 11, 2017) – Chester County resident and community activist Carol Metzker has been named the 2017 recipient of the Chester County Fund for Women and Girls’(CCFWG) Kitchen Table Award. The award was established to honor an outstanding Chester County woman who has demonstrated leadership and made substantive contributions through service and/or philanthropy to improve our community. Ms. Metzker will be honored at the CCFWG Making a Difference Luncheon, at the Desmond Hotel and Conference Center in Malvern on Friday, May 5, 2017.
Carol Hart Metzker is a writer, frequent speaker, consultant and author of Facing the Monster: How One Person Can Fight Child Slavery. She is working to help end human trafficking by delivering hundreds of educational programs at schools and universities, faith-based and community groups, advocating for new anti-human trafficking laws in Pennsylvania and has leadership roles in the Rotarian Action Group Against Slavery and the Chester County Anti-Human Trafficking Coalition. She consults to The Salvation Army’s New Day to Stop Trafficking program. Ms. Metzker’s passion and dedication connects community members with resources, education and tools to uplift and support victims and survivors. She has led numerous volunteer efforts and implemented programs including volunteering or shopping at Dress for a Good Cause, which she co-founded; gathering furniture or baby supplies for survivors with families; or supporting The Salvation Army New Day’s New Home for local survivors of teen-sex-trafficking who have aged out of child protective services. Ms. Metzker earned a Bachelor’s degree at Penn State University and a Master’s degree at George Mason University. CCFWG is pleased to highlight her achievements on May 5th at the Making a Difference Luncheon.
The 2017 Luncheon will also feature keynote speaker Katherina Rosqueta, founding Executive Director of the Center for High Impact Philanthropy, a multi-disciplinary center that provides public information, education and advisory services so that philanthropy achieves greater social impact. A frequent speaker on philanthropy and social impact, her work and comments have been cited in numerous media outlets including the New York Times, National Public Radio, Wall Street Journal and Money Magazine. Ms. Rosqueta received her B.A. with honors from Yale University and an M.B.A. from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
