Women and Power
November 5, 2015 @ 11:45 am - 1:00 pm
Women leaders have traditionally had an uneasy relationship with our own power. Generations upon generations of conditioning leave us uncomfortable with how to wield our own power authentically and fluently. Expectations of others often place us in a “double-bind”: Be authoritative, strong and direct but also be soft, gentle and likeable. We often buy into the subtle connotation that power is somehow a bad thing and therefore we don’t embrace it within ourselves nor use it for the good it can do. We even avoid using the word!
In this compact and compelling conversation, we will bring the concept of our own power into the light. We’ll examine it with a sense of curiosity and we will learn what types of power we have, and how we can use that power to more effectively to lead and influence.
